its strange you mention this today, as last night my airport extreme dropped all signals from my cable modem.

i was able to have the ethernet cable run directly to one of my laptops and the internet was running fine, however even though my airport showed the green light stating it was connected, there was a problem with the IP and DNS server.

i had reset the airport to its factory settings myself, and that didnt fix it. i called my ISP and they said i had to contact apple directly.

this morning i had made an appointment with apple techs to call me at a scheduled appointment i made, and they were able to resolve the issue in a few minutes.

ill walk you thru what we did, but if that doesnt work, you can set up an appointment all done over the phone, and they can walk you thru it..

i do have applecare on one of my other computers, so i was able to use the tech for free.. otherwise you will have to pay..

1- unplug your Airport's power cable.

    2- wait 30 seconds

3- reset the Airport device [use a paperclip or pen tip and keep it pressed.

4- connect the power cable back into the Airport and continually keep the reset button held. do this until you see the light flashing at a fast pace on/off

5- when you see the light flashing, release the reset button

6- on your MBAir, you will see the Airport Utility menu dialog box appear telling you your setting have changed.

7- re-enter your preferences to "Create a new Network" enter the name for the Airport, enter a password for Admin incase you are the Admin of the Airport [optional] and keep going with the presets for new network, create a Network and supply a WPA2 password. and then when complete Click "Update/ Continue"

at this point you should be able to connect.

if you havent been able to connect at this time.. i suggest you contact apple directly.. you can set up an appointment thru their website here: https://expresslane.apple.com/Ge…

    • if you have Applecare for any computer you can get this all taken care of FREE.e_p
