IMO, it's precautionary measures being taken by the music / film industry. Those "liberals" out in Hollywood, cough I mean DINO's (Democrats in Name Only), lobbying Congress to do this shit.
They don't want some kid in the Ukraine or China selling mp3's / videos for $0.10 when they are for sale in the USA for $8.99.
The reality of this shit, protect American wares against the rest of the world, especially those countries that fail to stick with copyright laws. Uhmmmmmmmmm like China.
Of course Google and Wikipedia are going to be pissed off, it's a global effort on their parts.
