I grew up racing (raced in the US & Europe), and rollers are an early season staple when you are building base miles and conditioning your stroke. They are not a replacement for a wind trainer. The main benefit to rollers is either as a warm up tool, or for working on your form (including your stroke), unless you are talking early season and just building base miles. On the stroke, yes rollers will help make them more circular (and therefor improve your power band), but it will also make you far more efficient on the machine as a whole. Rollers will also very quickly expose any weakness in your form... as even the slightest problem is magnified with them. Think with your bottom bracket at all times and you'll do just fine.

    • Totally man, working on my stroke, balance & staying dry :-) I kept the front wheel on for a whole 30 seconds there...kingsteven
