    if you have any desire to turn this into an instrument or controller for music or MIDI in general maybe live video mixing, stay with the iPad. It has more apps available giving you more options (most all the options) and better support with lower latency transposing these signals to your DAW.

    You could always buy refurbished too, it's just an iPad and comes with a warranty so no real loss buying cheaper. Maybe look into used? I bought a 32gb 4th gen iPod Touch for $150 because someone wanted to upgrade to a phone for Christmas, so I know the deals are out there.
