    it happens when people's attention span get severely limited, they have less and less education and critical thinking abilities and the reality is so shitty for most people that they need "feel good" movies to make them escape it.

    I'm not saying there isn't a place for mindless entertainment and summer blockbusters but the world we live in today is occupied by maybe 60-70% by people with limited reasoning capabilities.

    That, and Hollywood is just producing stuff that grosses huge amounts of money and caters to the widest possible audience in addition to be completely out of ideas (which is again the consequence of lack of creativity, passion and education I mentioned above).

    If we look at it objectively, do you really think that we will see a movie like Seven beat Avengers? This was possible before, not today, thus the lack of such movies. Inception was really the last refreshing movie made with a unique idea but it made good money because of Nolan and people saying "Hey that's the guy who made Batman".

    At least that's how I feel and see it and I go to movies often.
