Hit up Joe's Stone Crab (although stone crabs aren't technically in season, but I think they still serve them). If they don't, order some other seafood, the fried chicken and DEFINITELY the key lime pie. If the wait is unbearable, eat at Joe's Take Out next door. Hiro's Yakko-San is also a personal favorite for Japanese tapas (open really late too) but it's closer to North Miami.
You gotta get some Cuban food while you're down there. Most hole-in-the-wall Cuban spots will do, but if you have a car, drive over to Calle Ocho.
