    To play the other side:

    - Some women/men prefer it for aesthetic reasons.
    - Female circumcision is not exactly the same thing. There's a difference between having some sensation and not having any sensation at all. And it has a different background and a different level of barbarity (which matters to some people... kind of like how most people favour some animals and not others, ignoring the fact that many of them are maimed for our pleasure), thus giving it a more negative connotation.     Nowadays people don't seem to mind as much.

    It totally made sense in the late 80s and 90s because of the aids information that was coming out at the time.
