I'm a designer who likes to work within restrictions. The rationale is my guide. This translates directly to my life: the size of my apt. allows me to have 'x' number of things, my salary/freelance affords me certain things on the menu. Honestly, living within one's means is completely subjective - I'm no happier/unhappier now then when I was making 1/3 of my current yearly $ out of school.
I feel like if you're able to imagine money like design - and live within the grid or a typeface or a color palette, incrementally increasing (or not) what you want - who'se to say you'll need millions?
