lukas - I'm in the exact same situation as you...

I used to back up on external HDs but it was always a pain in the ass and I have yet to find a (windows) application that makes it as easy as you think it should be. So as a result I only made my backups every few months... Not good! And of course unless you store your HDs off-site you're not covered in the event of theft, fire, etc...

So in Jan. of 2011 I switched to Crashplan and so far, so good. It took months to upload all of my data (around 400GB) but it all happened in the background and didn't seem to slow down my machine.

I would never put all of my eggs in 1 basket, but the peace of mind in knowing that all of my work is continually backed up via Crashplan is very nice.

    • thx - I think I'll give it a go, problem is - I'm not sure how much anyone can trust these companieslukus_W2
    • I guess it's a question of spreading yr eggs into a few basketslukus_W2
    • Yeah multiple backups are always best, so I look at it as an additional backup - not my ONLY backup.nocomply
    • Of course I'm guilty as charged for not backing up as much as I should. :)nocomply
