there's a difference..
LA Noire is multiple cases. You go through a lot of them and DLC will be based on that.
Heavy Rain is about 1 case from the perspective of a few people including the father.
The game mechanic though is similar. They were definitely influenced by exploration and fighting part from Heavy Rain but not completely. You can still feel a bit of GTA 4 in it, but not as free roaming as GTA4.
