it's natural to want to feel like and promote the fact that you are part of the old guard, the originators, a participant back when things were so much better than they are now. It goes along to his somewhat frequent references to personalities who have long disappeared from this forum and who few even recognize. It's letting people in on the fact that he's "in the know", when they may not be, possibly (who knows?) in an subconscious attempt to garner some sort of respect.
It's like when people say they used to listen to a band WAAAYYY before they got popular. Everyone wants to be thought of as a leader, not a follower. Nothing odd about that, right?Incidentally,
