The reaction is perfectly natural and not hypocritical. In fact his explanation is hypocritical.
Protecting crops, feeding villagers? lol, there are millions of people starving in villages across the world, you think GoDaddy CEO gives a crap about them? Does he fly around the world in his Gulfstream protecting them from hunger and tsunamis?
Please. He does this because he enjoys shooting elephants, and probably especially gets a kick out of killing an animal he knows people will get upset over. In other words, he's a douchebag.
