I lived there for 15 years. Poke around for images near the Art museum or Johns Hopkins. Beautiful Victorian neighborhoods. Hampden is a good call for seeing the quirky epicenter of hey hon' culture (think John Waters). There are some interesting areas around MICA too.
And this isn't Baltimore, but a local historical highlight is old Ellicott City. It's an old mainstreet kind of town. Some buildings date back to late 18th century. Very picturesque down by the Patapsco River.
