There are plenty of reasons why they would love to be able to control people through social media. Its an unbelievably popular thing. And it also connects instantly with rss feeds, following, smart phones. Why wouldnt they is the better question?
Think of it as a big pen. and everyone is just a bunch of cows. few sounds near one cow can spook the whole herd or half, and it could be real or not. like wind making a sound like waoooo and cow thinking its a wolf. Sometimes a sound isnt drastic enough to travel as quick, sometimes its just happens to be heard by influential cows which cows will follow without reason. Sure there are a ton of variables and huge demographics that it hurts the head. But that doesnt mean someone cant take it farther then you, a computer model, enough data. A dumb populace+social media, is just too much catnip for any ruling body to handle. Gov wants to get to the outside of the pen before anyone else. And they will tell us its to protect us which has some merit, but gov are people with own interests and its so easy to corrupt weak people with power. why most politicians are so weak. .. it just makes sense to me. if i was a dick its what id be working on
