My fiancee could not be further removed from anything art/design related both personally and professional. And you know what - I fucking love it.
When I get home from work I don't have to worry about educating her about the nuances of typesetting or identity development. She could care less. We can talk about other - usually more important - things going on in our lives and with our family.
She is also a perfect 3rd party to get feedback from. "Why?", You may ask. I'll tell you why. She has no bias to what is considered "good" or "bad" design. She is completely and bluntly honest in her feedback and doesn't sugarcoat anything. ie: "Hi Hon, this logo is based off of the concept of two bees making love." "It looks like two flys snorting coke."
Also, she balances me out. I spend all day doing art/design at work. When I leave work I need time away from it too. She helps me with that.
