i saw one too. i was camping in joshua tree back in late 90's. thought we'd go there to get a clear view of hale bop comet. which was amazing. anyway, the ufo was hovering close to the ground at the distance it was flashing different colors, we could clearly see it was rotating. once in a while it would go crazy with colored lights almost like in code or like it was communicating somehow. pretty impressive and fun to watch.
