    Windows doesn't like being booted from external drives because BIOS doesn't like external drives. I tried it myself with a MacBook pro.

    WinOS boots off a CD/DVD drive because the those drives are considered part of the system - BIOS checks mounted system hardware and preps the OS for boot.

    WinOS will boot off a network BIOS, but that will be hard to do within the constraints of the bootcamp software.

    PIZZA is right about workarounds, but be prepared for some slightly complicated command line works...
