  Combative sports have existed for thousands of years, worldwide in almost every culture across the globe. To quote Georges St Pierre (one of the athletes in the sport) : "I think there are two kinds of fans, there are the fans that like only to see a brawl, and there are the type of fans who know the game and know what's going on".
  You may see it as one thing, some may see it as something else. The more you understand about the sport, the less 'animal' it becomes.
