    I went to Negril in '91 and had a great time. We rented scooters and travelled into the countryside. Basically, if you have the wits to walk though a tough area of a downtown, you will be fine.

    Believe me, the island lives off of tourists so there is no way that most people are getting robbed and raped. I do recommend staying away from Kingston as it is on the other side of the island and very rough. I would only travel there with locals that you have met before the trip. And guns.
