I grew up in Texas and have spent a hell of a lot of time in Austin, and in the Hill Country in general. My parents live about an hour south of Austin in New Braunfels.
Austin is a great city and to e-pill's question, the girls are great in Austin, better than anywhere in the state, probably because of the university.
soynutz7, if you're into camping, I highly suggest Pedernales Falls State Park in Johnson City, Enchanted Rock near Fredricksburg ,and McKinney Falls state park right near Austin. I've camped at each several times and they're all unique in their own way.
