This depends entirely on what lifestyle choices you want people to tolerate, and also on how you define tolerance. I think many people confuse the meaning of tolerance with assent and encouragement. But they're two very different things. One can tolerate people who live differently, all while avoiding encouragement per se of any moral differences.
I'm not just talking about sexuality. You can apply this to anything.
