Looks really nice and effective for that purpose. The only thing that might be nicer to see is a color other than grey to begin the gradient fade into the image. It just kind of goes from blah to positive (with the image of the player being excited). In fact, even the darker sunset behind is a little too moody for something that should be more positive and uplifting.
