Interesting article. Jobs doesn't sound like anyone I'd ever want to work for.

I'm sick of this whole Flash thing on iPhone/iPad thing, though. Don't get me wrong: I love Flash, and would like to see it supported on these platforms, HOWEVER ... I think people need to remember that these devices (and similar ones from other manufacturers) probably aren't _meant_ to be the de facto computing device we all use for our daily work, at least not right now. At their core, they're still phones and still limited-functionality portable internet-capable devices, not designed to replace desktop systems. Asking for the full experience out of one of these things simply isn't realistic.

Imagine trying to use Illustrator on an iPad. Or coding PHP on an iPhone, with that small touch keyboard. Or writing a long text document. It simply isn't feasible.

Thus, I really don't think Jobs' obsession with killing Flash will amount to much, at least not in the near future. If nothing else, it will produce new innovation on Adobe's side, with their platform.

Like I mentioned in another thread, though, curiously silent in all of this is Microsoft. It's not normally like them to back away from a potential dust-up with Apple, especially since it also involves Google indirectly.

    • about your point with these various platforms voice user interface and gesture user interface could easily change that in 5 years or lessDeIntegro
    • that in 5 years or less. Yes you could write programs on ipad or do illustrator on ipad in 5 years just without the mouse...eg WACOMDeIntegro
    • WACOMDeIntegro
    • Fair enough, but would you really _want_ to?Continuity
    • all depends on the user experience. imagine collaboratively working on code for eg.DeIntegro
    • If we're to assume it would still be a similar experience to the current iPhone OS, that would be pretty clunky.Continuity
    • the OS will have to evolve, the iPad is just a blueprint for mobile computing...it depends on what apps you want to run on it for eg.DeIntegro
