    You're not in the wrong here and you have every right to defend yourself. Of course being a visual designer means you're privy to a lot more visual culture than most people are but even still, it's not your job to consume all of it. You cannot be faulted unless you knowingly and purposefully appropriated visual language and vernacular from 'The Incredibles' brand identity.

    If any blame is to be directed shouldn't it be back at the client and your superiors? If they developed and nurtured the art and creative direction for this identity and then proceeded in a direction they were not 100% sure about and had not been researched thoroughly then again, you cannot be at fault. And nobody should assume that you would have ever had any connection to the movie 'The Incredibles'... there are thousands of massively, commercially available items of culture that are spewn out every year.... to say you blatantly ripped is a bit of a stretch. And really... if there was any doubt that you didn't do your job all they have to do is look at the explorations you did.
