    Camer,

Here are my suggestions on how to improve the opening ceremonies:

    1) reduce the length by at least 1.5 hours. They are wayyyyy too long. Too much filler. Too much superficial window dressing.

    2) Don't butcher the national anthem. You have a stadium of 60,000 people, many of which are Canadians, brimming with patriotism. Stick to a rendition that everyone can sing, and I guarantee that place would explode with pride.

    3) Minimize time at the microphone for John Furlong and that bore from the IOC. Neither are engaging public speakers, and they went on and on for wayyyyy too long.

    4) Stop trying so fucking hard with all the props and visuals. The cauldron in Calgary was classic, looked much nicer than the thing we had last night and wasn't subject to mechanical malfunction. Instead we had to have fancy hydraulic sticks that can't be relied on.

    5) Try and get perfomers to actually sing rather than lip-synch. I know lip synching is de facto at stadium performances these days, but is it really that tough to perform live?

    There are my suggestions.

    • I'll have to say having the Calgary tower be the torch for everyone to see was quite cool.ETM
    • 6) no more Nelli Furtado.

whale projection and sacred grove was pretty darn impressive. I have to admit.
