I agree with fiver that it wasn't a very good year (for hollywood). I saw some terribly overrated movies. Noticeable big studio exceptions for me:
- A serious man, the day after I watched it I realised how much I loved it's bleak and depressing humor
- The hurt locker, I was pleasantly surprised by the slow pace and small set-up. Although I would've left out the last few minutes...
- In the loop, just a brilliant piece of comedy with peter capaldi being as amazing as possible
- I thought both the fantastic mister fox and where the wild things are were pleasant to watch, and I'm not usually very interested in this type of film
- up in the air was just absolutely terrible
- inglourious bastards was at times beautifully made and had some good actors, all other parts of it were a massive disappointment...
haven't seen avatar, and I probably never will...
