    I think we're in the middle of a divide. Most people simply don't need a full computer all the time. The iPhone proves this, without argument.

    Over the next few years we'll see a redefining of what we call "personal" computers and they will be different from what we consider "work" computers. Personal computers should be simpler, pared down, mobile entertainment and web information devices. Not that many people need to bring a full machine with them wherever they go, and if they do, they will. For most people this "type" of machine is ideal.

    Plus, with all the publishers moving toward a digital "rich" format, we will see several devices that will tap into their subscriptions. The iPad is kind of the beginning (not counting the Kindle).
