Here is some copy for the About section

Through my participation on the forum, I saw so much great work and thought it would be fun to move it from the virtual world to the physical through mailing artwork. I threw the idea out there and Chris Zawada in Vancouver was feeling it, so one night I gave him a phone call and we decided to make a thread and round up some like minded individuals. I believe this was back in 2004.

The interest was there, so the next step was figuring out a way to set parameters and organization. The best plan we could dream up was to set up a finite number of participants and a reasonable deadline. What we came up with was the first NewsToday Print Exchange (NTPE).

It finally came together as 30 participants. We recognized since there were so many disciplines out there, the only rules to the exchange were that the pieces needed to be mailed- no restrictions on medium.

So the list of participants came together and off it went. The deadline was set 2 months from the sign up date and everyone was given the same deadline to create and mail out their work. The point of that was so all the artwork would trickle in at the same time.

The first round was interesting, we had designers from all over- the US, Canada, Iceland, Scotland, Belgium, Latvia and Brazil. Nice range, right?

So there you have it, the story behind NTPE. Nothing more than a grip of designers who are willing to share their work with a bunch of strangers on a mailing list. The one thing I can't express in words is the feeling of coming home from work and seeing a mailing tube or five sitting on the porch.. it makes coming home from a best day even better and totally cancels out a bad day. Seriously, knowing a bunch of strangers are willing to throw down and share, there is nothing better.

Stay tuned, the mailing deadline for this round is #### 30th, and there will definitely be pics to show off the work. In the meantime, keep checking back to see the participants and pics from previous rounds.

Much love and respect to current and past participants.
