As all of the hosted-solutions / cloud stuff really starts to take off. I think that we'll need a decent way to interface with the stuff that's being hosted elsewhere. I figure a tablet is ideal because it has the potential to be very very minimal (just a screen), but there's also the possibility of using it with traditional input devices.

Potentially the tablets could have a docking system, allowing them to be used as a regular computer (kb/mouse) and then picked up and taken to a meeting to make notes.

Even just being able to use them for sketching, painting would be good for illustrators / designers. Those Wacom screen / tablets are pretty great - I don't see why these couldn't fulfil the same type of purpose one day.

I currently can't think of any good replacement for a pad of paper and pen.

I've lot count of the number of times I've had a PDF I need to read at the same time as working .. or I've wanted to read something away from my desk. Even bringing a netbook along is a hassle because there's a keyboard & hinge that gets in the way.

When I cook, I generally use recipes found on sites like epicurious. I have to either print my recipe, or risk getting shite in the keys on my netbook. I reckon a tablet would be useful here too.

Ebook readers are all very well - but they buck the trend of convergence. It makes no sense to have a device that only does one thing these days.

Then there's all the hype about augmented reality. I reckon, if a tablet has a decent CPU and graphics.. the hype might pay off.

    • Yeah...docking station is a great ideaukit
    • off topic: why can't you send a grocery list as a txt from epicurious? i always have to write out on paper before i go to store.....linearch
