"There was plenty of politics in "Hurt Locker"; it just didn't need to hit you over the head with it.
The short scene in the cereal aisle of the supermarket is definitely a comment about geopolitics. The diversity of Iraqi characters and their equally diverse attitudes toward the American soldiers is also political. The socio-economic differences between the soldiers and the army psychologist was also socio-political. "
