first of all that js code is miserable. where the fuck did you get it?
you have a conditional statement there for IE6 and IE7. something must be wrong with it. i can also tell that there is no condition for IE8 in there, and that (not surprisingly) it doesn't work in IE8 either.
if you know flash actionscripting i would recommend sticking with that. otherwise find a new lightbox-ish photo gallery. one that works.
