Just buy a new one at Wal-Mart and then return it when your old one comes back. Keep the packaging and return it in clean, salable condition and you should have no problems for 90 days.
I have heard of several people doing that. You don't even need to open or unwrap the accessories/cables since you have your old ones. I wouldn't normally advocate such behavior, but the 360 is a PIA and I don't care.
