BeeJiveIM: a great IM client that allows you to use gTalk, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Facebook Chat, etc. Sort of expensive but a pretty well made application.
Yelp: Listings and reviews for everywhere in the USA. Not sure if it's international.
Newsstand: Wonderful RSS reader, syncs with your Google Reader account.
Tweetie 2: One of my favorites applications available for the iPhone due to it's sleek UI and overall execution. Basic twitter application with twitvid and twitpic abilities among others.
Ego: Great for tracking your twitter follows, google analytics, and vimeo numbers.
!FOUND!: Simple ffffound feed
Tipulator: Gorgeously designed tip calculator.
Convert: Unit converter, great design.
Groceries: Keep your grocery list(s) organized
Rocket Taxi: Great for finding/planning a cab ride. USA only I think.
Hitchcock: For the creators of film. Kind of expensive, very well made.
MiniBooks: Integration with Freshbooks.
Outpost: Best basecamp app around.
CNN: Streaming video, headlines, etc.
Flixter: Movie times, locations, etc.
Pandora: Wonderful music for free.
DoGood: Collaborate on doing something good in a large way each day.
Nice List: Christmas lists!
A few other great apps that are a little more self explanatory: Facebook, Myspace, Evernote, Skype, Remote, iDisk, Flickr (by yahoo), The Weather Channel, myWireless (at&t), Godaddy, LRG, Shazam, TV Guide, Analytics, Dropbox and foursquare.
