    The good thing about having everyone's stuff searchable, indexable and in "one" place is that it allows you to do more things than you could have done before.

    Companies could better track and manage employee productivity for example.

    As far as selling your data to other people against your wishes, that's not in the interest of whoever runs clouds. It would give clouds a bad reputation and increase the unreasonable amount of paranoia.

    An employer that runs a cloud in the company might do that, and reveal which employees are unproductive. But that isn't exactly your private data.
