My cousin studied in Freiburg at some multimedia college whose name i can't remember at the moment. The town is ridiculously pretty, right smack in the black forest. The main church, the minster, survived WW2 intact, windows and all, well worth a visit.
It's a huge university town, part of the Max Planck Institues and the Fraunhoffer Insitutes are there, as well as one of the major regional german TV stations, Suedwestfunk. And i'm sure they all need designers.
I don't know any specifics, but there should be plenty of graphics work to be had...
