Adobe are in desperate need for competition especially in the web design arena.
+ Photoshop is tedious to web design in because drawing a box is a ballache and you either litter then canvas with hundreds of vector shapes that are tedious or you draw each one using a square of pixels which can't be changed easily. You can use smart objects but then you can't change the text on buttons for example.
+ Illustrator doesn't deal with pixel measurements very well and is tedious for developers to export
+ Fireworks is woefully buggy and dated, things break in it constantly or shift, the filters are low quality, crashes constantly

Desperately need something like Fireworks with the filter/compositing technology of After Effects. Imagine being able to compose a button with stacked blur and overlay effects but with live text/resizing and having access to normal map rendering technology for 3D program quality gloss. It would be like the best thing and the worst thing to happen to web design.

Yet what are we going to get? Catalyst which is a massive pile of dogshit, I mean we all know for a fact that anything made in that will run like shit anyway because it will be a massive pile of clunky framework stuck to flash, its only there to make lazy developer lives easier not actually make better quality work
