If not working together at least there seems to be a high incidence of couples in the same or very close professions, maybe because they meet at the uni or at work. So I wouldn't deem it strange at all. In fact, people have so little time for each other outside their schedules... I would say that is probably a natural step for those couples and characters whose relationship is working very well. At least at younger ages it seems very natural to me.
