we have a network drive that uses F: and sometimes when i plug in a peripheral it puts itself as F: also, but you can't see it because the drive letter is already being used for something else. what you do to check is go into disk management and see if the camera is listed there. if it is, and it is using a drive letter that has already been take, just choose another letter for it (right click in disk managment on letter and select new). Not sure if this is the problem but this happens regularly at our office and once i found out it solved many mysteries.
