I'll give you another perspective. I like weather, I'm a new englander – and I miss weather a lot in SF. People are truly a strange mix of laid back apathy, or super frantic (as the city is too expensive to live in for true laid back working types). If you like a bit of manner and tradition, its not here. Also, the whole hipster/designer/tech community is pretty self-absorbed. People talk about themselves a lot – which seems strange.
Just a few passing observations. There are many more, both positive and negative.
I find it ok living in a nice house in the east bay and working daily in the city.
