  It's funny how when fashion designers produce clothes that are 'on trend' no one says "looks a bit fashionable".
  There are trends is advertising and illustration, just look back at ads from the 80s, 70s or 60s and you'll see them. I see nothing wrong with trends in illustration when used for communications. They help create new styles to interest us, they're often recycled and evolve over time just like in the fashion world
