If God exists, and if he is who he says he is, and if he is therefore omnipotent and capable of creating universes ex nihilo, then who really gives a shit whether the earth was created in 7 days or 7 billion years? It's not an argument that I find particularly interesting, to be honest.

About archaeology and dating however, one thing I'll say in favor of Young Earth Creationism (YEC) is that carbon dating, which is used for most archaeological dating systems, is very unreliable and can yield inconsistent results if one tests the same material under the same circumstances at different times.

And that's about the extent of my archaeological knowledge.

    • could you say that in Aramaic?nilsnihil

    • you know, there is more than 1 dating method and carbon dating isnt used for the age of the earth.October
    • Carbon dating is very accurate but it's not used for the dating the Earth or anything beyond 55-65k years old.Mimio

    • I stand by it. I'm no archaeologist, but I know at least that carbon dating yields shaky results.Scotch_Roman
