Deleting fonts in Vista

  Well I restarted under safe mode. It worked. I was able to delete the file. Thanks everyone.

  Thank you zarkonite, too, but I was trying to delete a font (a copy) without having to un-install it from the system. I'm sure what you've said will work.

  But rebooting under safe mode seems like the best, fastest procedure, as far as I gather - and it works.
