friend of mine did the america loop a couple of years ago, took a year to do it. he's into native american big juju type of places; if you're interested in that, and have a rough route in mind, i can ask him for some power spots to visit.
he also hit me up like 4 times during that trip for money ('i'm stranded in utah, i have no gas, it's starting to snow'), so uh just assume that you'll need way more money than you think.
i know he stayed at a lot of national parks, i guess the camping there is cheap.
