I work with a guy who has become so difficult to have a simple conversation with because he's always injecting some kind of contradiction or scientific fact into the most simple things.

    Example:
They've posted signs in our work bathroom stressing the importance of hand washing. It says always use warm water, scrub with soap for 15 - 20 seconds... thing is, we don't have hot water in the bathroom... it's one of those laser operated ones that's always ice cold.

So I casually mentioned this to a coworker yesterday who was just leaving the bathroom. All I said was "I think it's kind of funny they've got those signs up, and we don't even have hot water in there."

    Coworker:
"Weeeeelllllll, you knooooowwww... Hot water isn't actually what kills germs, it's the soap itself that kills microbials on your skin. All these people around here that use antibacterial cleaner at their desk - that's not really killing germs, it's just making them immune to the antibodies. Only real soap does a good job of getting hands actually clean and free of germs."

WTF... All I said was "it's ironic that it mentions the importance of hot water, and we don't have any." A simple "haha, yeah" would have sufficed.
