Monospaced, I think you are mistaken on the discussion or lack of point. I don't have time to trawl through the history of QBN to show you where its been mentioned and discussed in relation to the book so I hope you don't feel too strongly about it are merely asking questions to satisfy your curiosity.
As for the film, I personally have no idea about his film. I am in the book for my own vanity and desire for promotion. Its okay to be in there for those reasons. Don't feel persecuted.
