It's not so much the snow, it's the poor training people have in their cars, they skyte about the place banging into things causing rediculous jams and no-one has snow chains (except me obviously seen as I am totally field and stream) this is one of the main reasons the transport authority tell folk to stay put because for the most part they are crap and ill prepared for driving.
Buy a shovel buy some snow chains put an extra can of fuel in your car in the winter months, take more time in the snow and drive cautiously.
