I believe the original Freddy G. quote was something more to the effect of "anyone who would letterspace blackletter would *fuck* sheep." I mean, seriously. Goudy was a hot-shit womanizing type designer cutting a name for himself in NYC—during the roaring 20's even. Does a city slicker really carry "stealing sheep" in their bag of idioms? Or is it more likely that he saw some offensive kerning and thought "Wow. Look at this god awful type. Sheep fuckers. All of them." Can anyone shine some light on this?
(And admittedly, I have committed many a type crime myself.)
