You know things are kept top secret in the CIA and NASA and in sophisticated arenas such as corporate business and government and the combination so does that make them conspiracies? But usually the main stream conspiracy theories are an effect of something more going on beneith the surface of the public conciousness. Of course conspiracies do in fact happen and some people have theories and some people are trying to bury the evidence...some people use fake counter theories to obscure the real conspiracy. People like Chomsky talk a bit about 'dismantling the information'...like when there's a big political event like JFK assassination or 911 and the bits and peices of the 'story' are released and countered with PSYOP campeigns disinformation.
There's little reason to beleive, for example, that the first moon landing happened exactly as we're told it did. NASA is huge and 95% of its activity is NOT public knowledge. There's less that says "NASA wouldn't fake the moon landing" than "NASA likley had reason to fake parts of the moon landing for public digestion" if you catch my drift.
