Picasso was definitely influenced by the visual detritus he chose to surround himself with. Yes, he had guts, yes he experimented. But having a collection of nice looking things and images to be influenced by or not influenced by made him no more or less of an artist. Just as I hope my ffffound makes no more or less of an artist of me. Personally I love to surround myself with images and objects which I find comforting and inspiring. Not only do they influence the work I do, but the way I see others' work, the way I think, speak and act. They are a part of who I am.
