Not totally "graphic design" related, but there is also something out there where you are in a supermarket or store, and you take a picture of the UPC, or EAN bar code and it tells you the price, and also tells you if the same item is sold for cheaper in a nearby store, and tells you the location of the neaby store.
I really wonder what the mechanics of that app is like, because from working in packaging, I know that the pricing in the bar codes have different codes per different stores... in other words, the bar code is not necessarily "universal"
